JOB TITLE : Cost Estimator
TIME ZONE : Australian Time Zone
HOURS : 30-40 HRS PER WEEK
SALARY : $7-8AUD/hr
As a Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating project specifications to determine the overall cost of construction, manufacturing, or service projects. You will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to gather relevant data, assess project requirements, and prepare accurate cost estimates. Your role is crucial in ensuring that projects are financially viable, competitive, and aligned with organisational goals.

Estimator Tasks for
Sales Estimates
• Receive request from Operations Manager/Project Manager to prepare a Sales Estimate for an incoming job
• Prepare Sales Estimate folder, concepts plan, job classification (Equity, Signature, or NDIS), and
• Update estimate cost for quotations from suppliers based on received quotes for the previous job
• Accomplish Sales Estimate and send to Project Manager, Operations Manager, and Admin personnel via email and
Wrike for review.
• Discuss Sales Estimates and Tender allowances with Admin personnel before sending the Tender to the client.
Bill of Quantities
• Set up job folder, documents, and Bill of Quantities format based on the Tender requirements.
• Fill up the following information necessary for the Purchase Orders:
• Discuss with Admin personnel to complete Council-approved documents for estimating materials.
• Start estimates once DA approval/CDC classification has been received.
Purchase Orders
• Prepare documentation and folder for incoming jobs.
• Coordinate with Admin personnel to determine DA/CC or CDC approval.
• Send out supplier quotes for works once DA Approval/CDC classification is received:
* Prepare and send out orders to suppliers upon authorization by the Operations Manager and Site Supervisor.
Contract Price Adjustment
• Receive Contract Price Adjustment request from Project Manager through Dataline.
• Processing of documentation, cost computation, and management cost approval through Wrike.
• Prepare cost computation between Supplier invoices, Tender allowances, and Purchase Orders if needed.
• Request Invoice for Contract Price Adjustment from Accounts personnel.
Variation Orders
• Prepare Variation orders requested by the client through the Operations Manager. Includes the following tasks:
• Prepare and send out Variation order to supplier.
Sorting out Dataline Invoices:
• Dataline handles all invoices received from suppliers. The Project Manager, Operations Manager, Site
• Once an invoice inquiry is received, prepare a cost comparison
• Raise an inquiry to the Site Supervisor for additional works in the supplier invoices which are not found in the Purchase Orders.
• Raise an inquiry to Suppliers for price increase concerns, and possible credit back for excess/returned materials.
• Review information available prior to sending out a response to the Project Manager:
• Determine if the cost discrepancy requires a Contract Price Adjustment.
• Send finding to Project Manager for further review.
Coordination with Constructions Staff
* Provide updates for the jobs at the Weekly Staff meeting:
* Coordination with Operations Manager for discussion of the following concerns:
* Compilation of Additional costs and Tender allowances for Contract Price Adjustment Invoice cost
* Coordination with Site Supervisor for discussion of the following concerns:
Coordination with Accounts personnel for discussion of the following concerns:
• Set-up credit account with new specialty suppliers
• Arrange downpayment processing for suppliers with no established credit account
• Process credit notes from suppliers for returned materials
• Update on received invoices from suppliers for Contract Price Adjustment cost computation
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Cost Estimator in a relevant industry.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
