Virtual Assistant – Research & FOIA Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented researcher to identify potential viral news cases or newsworthy incidents in specific cities and file public records requests for bodycam footage via FOIA. The ideal candidate will have a passion for investigative work, excellent organizational skills, and a proven ability to conduct comprehensive research.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential viral news cases or incidents in designated cities.
- Identify and document incident details including date, location, and parties involved.
- File accurate and detailed FOIA requests to obtain bodycam footage from law enforcement agencies.
- Keep meticulous records of all requests made, including dates, agencies contacted, and request status.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines for FOIA requests.
Qualifications:
- Experience in investigative research, preferably in a journalistic or legal capacity.
- Excellent communication skills to correspond professionally with agencies and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets or similar tools to track and manage multiple ongoing requests efficiently.
