Are you an organized person with experience editing and proofreading documents in Microsoft Office Word? Do you also have experience with graphics design in eg. Canva or Photoshop and know how good graphic design should look like?
Do you want to work from home and need a stable job with predictable tasks? Then you might be the person I need...
ABOUT US:
We run a book publishing business.
We find and restore 100+ year-old classic books and republish them on Amazon for readers to enjoy all over the world.
JOB TASKS:
The job will be split about 50/50 between editing book manuscripts and designing book covers in Canva, using a written step-by-step process, that makes the whole job pretty simple once you are trained.
For the book editing part of the job, the task will be to:
- Go to a shared spreadsheet, where there will be a list of links to old-book manuscripts.
You must then take each manuscript and format and edit them in Microsoft Word and upload the exported files to a specific folder.
- You will be editing fonts, removing images, formatting headers, etc. You will not have to proofread actual spelling errors etc. The language in the books is old English, so all text should be original.
- There is a very detailed written step-by-step process for how to edit these manuscripts to make sure they have similar designs and layouts. This step-by-step process is pretty easy to follow if you have general Microsoft Word experience.
- Each original manuscript may present unique editing challenges to make it look uniform - so the more diverse editing experience you have, the better.
For the cover design part of the job, the tasks will be to:
- Use ChatGPT and Midjourney (an AI image generation tool) to create book cover images for the books. Here you must have a sense of what a good-looking book cover looks like and be able to choose the correct cover images.
- You will then have to create book covers for the books in paperback, hardcover, and ebook format. All of this is done in Canva by following a simple step-by-step Upgrade to see actual info original designs are needed, the design is the same for each book.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Great attention to detail
(Very important - Amazon Terms of Service have very specific rules about manuscripts that must be followed.)
- Organized
(You will edit about 40 documents and 40 book cover sets per week, so you must be good at keeping files separated in correct folders etc. to avoid mixups)
- Self-motivated (After training, you will be working yourself and just need to report to me once a week the results of the week)
- Wishes to stay in the job for 1 year or more
- Have a computer with a minimum 1920x1080 (Full HD) resolution AND an preferably and external monitor attached
- Have Microsoft Office 2016, 2019, 2021, or 365 installed.
WORK TIME:
- I expect you to work 40 hours per week and that you use Timeproof while working to track your hours.
- You can work whenever you want during the week. However many hours per day you want. Where ever from you want. At night, afternoon, or on the weekends. At home, in a café or on the beach, does not matter to me, as long as you work 40 hours per week and create about 2 manuscripts/cover sets per hour.
WHEN APPLYING, MAKE SURE TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:
- Why do you believe you would be a good fit for the job?
- What is your work history and do you have links for previous related proofreading/editing and graphics work?
- What is your age?
- Do you have an external monitor attached to your computer?
- Do you have Microsoft Office 2016, 2019, 2021, or 365 installed?
- Do you have another full-time or part-time job or will this be your only job if you get it?
- How do you feel about the offered salary of $290/m full time 40 hours weekly?
- How long do you plan to stay in the job?
- Can you work 40 hours per week?
- When can you start working full-time?
I look forward to receiving your application letter!
Kind Regards
Ivan W
